We’re taught to be strong.
We’re taught to push through.
We’re taught that if it’s not unbearable, it’s not important.
But what happens when the body learns that lesson too well?
In this episode of Cat Unmuted, I talk about muscle memory, immune memory, and the kind of conditioning we don’t realize we’re doing. As a former massage therapist, I saw how differently people experience pain. Some couldn’t tolerate much at all. Others needed deep, almost aggressive pressure just to feel anything.
It made me wonder:
What have we trained our bodies to ignore?
From childhood “tough love” to adulthood productivity, we often override discomfort. Physical pain. Emotional pain. The whispers. And when we ignore whispers long enough, the body eventually has to scream.
This episode explores:
• High pain tolerance and disconnection
• Why “no pain, no gain” can be misleading
• The link between physical awareness and emotional awareness
• Conditioning from childhood and the resilience it builds
• The difference between strength and suppression
The body remembers what we teach it.
The question is… what have you been teaching yours?
If this resonates, I’d love to hear your experience in the comments. Do you push through? Or are you learning to listen sooner?
